Using Claude and HubSpot to Create Better Marketing Content

Claude writes much better marketing content when it has business context from HubSpot. Instead of working from a generic prompt, it can use CRM data, customer language, deal insights and sales conversations to write content that is more relevant, more accurate and more likely to drive revenue.

The short version

  • Generic AI content lacks business context
  • HubSpot holds the customer and revenue data that supplies it
  • Claude can use that data through MCP
  • Customer language improves content quality
  • Sales conversations reveal what buyers worry about
  • Deal data shows the real buying triggers
  • The goal is content that creates revenue, not just faster content

Why generic AI content fails

Most AI-generated content sounds reasonable. The problem is that it sounds like everyone else’s. Generic AI has no customer insight, no industry experience, no view of buyer intent and no revenue data, so businesses end up publishing content that repeats what competitors say and misses what buyers actually worry about.

That is why so many AI content projects generate traffic but struggle to generate pipeline.

What is missing is context

AI is only as good as the information it gets. Ask Claude to “write a blog about CRM implementation” and you will get a technically correct article. But it won’t know what your customers care about, why deals are won or lost, which objections come up, what words prospects use or which services make you money.

Without context, content is generic. With it, content becomes commercially useful.

What HubSpot adds

HubSpot holds some of the most useful information in your business: customer behaviour, sales conversations, marketing performance, deal progression, customer feedback and revenue outcomes. When Claude can read it, the content improves a lot.

Your ideal customer profile

Claude can use industry focus, company size, job titles, pain points, buying triggers and common challenges so the content speaks directly to the buyers you want.

Instead of “Companies need better reporting”, Claude might write “B2B service businesses with long sales cycles often struggle to connect marketing activity to revenue, which makes forecasting and planning difficult.” The second lands because it describes a specific audience.

Deal data

Won and lost deals show what buyers care about most: the challenges they wanted solved, what drove the purchase, the objections and the decision criteria.

Try: “Review won opportunities from the last 12 months and identify the most common business challenges customers wanted to solve.” The answers often become your content themes.

Customer language

Many companies write in their own internal terminology rather than the words their customers use. Form submissions, notes, call summaries and customer feedback in HubSpot show how customers describe their problems, and content built on that language tends to perform better because it mirrors what buyers are searching for.

Sales conversations

This is one of the most underused sources. Sales teams hear objections, questions, priorities and success criteria every day, and Claude can pull the recurring themes out of notes and call summaries.

Try: “Review sales conversations and identify the ten most common questions prospects ask before buying.” That one output can fill months of content.

What Claude can create with that context

  • Blogs built around real customer challenges and sales insight, supporting actual buyer journeys rather than generic education.
  • Social content grounded in real pain points and frequently asked questions.
  • Landing pages that use customer language, buying triggers and objection handling.
  • Sales collateral such as battlecards, presentations, proposal content and objection-handling guides that feel relevant to the sales team because they come from real conversations.
  • Email sequences for nurture, outreach, onboarding, expansion and re-engagement.

If your AI content still sounds generic, the problem may not be the AI. It may be that it has no access to the customer, sales and revenue data that good content needs.

How Claude and HubSpot connect

Usually through MCP, the Model Context Protocol. It lets Claude securely access approved business systems like HubSpot, so instead of exporting reports or pasting CRM data into prompts, Claude retrieves the information directly. Depending on permissions, that can include contacts, companies, deals, activities, campaigns, attribution data and service interactions. Our guide on how to connect Claude to HubSpot using MCP walks through the setup.

What the workflow looks like

  1. Claude reviews CRM insights
  2. Claude analyses customer language
  3. Claude identifies recurring themes
  4. Claude generates content ideas
  5. Claude drafts the content
  6. Your marketing team reviews and refines it

A person stays in the loop at the end. The result is content grounded in real business intelligence, checked by someone who knows the business.

What to fix first

Before connecting AI to content production, review your CRM data quality, lifecycle stages, customer segmentation, how consistently sales notes are written, attribution reporting, your ICP definitions and your content strategy. The stronger the data underneath, the stronger the content.

Our view

AI should learn your business before it writes for you. The best content does not come from the cleverest prompt. It comes from the deepest understanding of your customers, and your CRM already holds a lot of that understanding. The future of content marketing is not just AI-generated content. It is AI-informed content, grounded in what your business already knows.
